Through the eyes of a Dog

So I am a stray dog with no one to love me, no food, no home. I'm very sad and lonely on the streets of Childress. I just wish somebody would give me a home, some food, and show me love.

Media

It kinda makes me aggravated to see people such as Tiger Woods, Michael Jackson, and others get so much publicity over somethings that aren't even a big deal, while other people who actually make a good change in the world don't get recognized at all.

Foster, 53, is searching for homeless veterans -- and he knows where to look.

Whether in a vacant lot behind a supermarket or a small clearing off the highway, homeless vets aren't that hard to find: One in three homeless adults has served in the military, and more than 150,000 veterans nationwide are homeless on any given night, according to the Veterans Administration.

Working with the sheriff's homeless outreach unit, Foster finds vets camped in tents or makeshift lean-tos, where he delivers a message: There's help for you if you want it.

"For our heroes to be living in [these] conditions, it's totally unacceptable," said Foster.

Since 2000, approximately 900 veterans have found life-changing help at Foster's facility, Stand Down House. Named for the military command that gives troops time to rest after arduous duty, the program provides homeless male vets food, shelter and a safe place to recover, as well as the tools to conquer their personal problems. "The idea is that they can relax now; we'll take care of them," Foster said.

Foster's motivation to help these men is personal: He used to be one of them.

Born in rural Georgia, he joined the Army right after high school. During his six years in the military, he began drinking and experimenting with drugs. He was an alcoholic by the time he left the Army in 1980, and his drinking and drug use escalated as he struggled to adjust to civilian life.

He spent the next decade battling his addictions, and at his lowest, he slept in flophouses or on the streets.

"I was pretty much out of control," Foster said. "I felt hopeless, helpless, ashamed and inadequate."

While struggling to get clean, Foster had difficulty finding a program that accepted veterans and provided the recovery services he needed, he said. The experience inspired him to design a program specifically for his brothers-in-arms.

"That's when the commitment in my heart was born," Foster said.

SCHOOL POEM

Oh Senior year,
How it goes by so fast,
walking through the halls,
day by day,
knowing its my last,
Football comes and goes so quick,
oh how i miss it,
now i got no more sports to pick,
School work,
there is none,
Thats my senior year,
and now its almost DONE.

Bankrupt

If they pulled that kind of stuff on me I would be very angry and sue them for what they did, especially after ruining my house and all my belongings! I would be sure to take as much money as possible and make them fix my house back to normal or buy me a brand new one!

A Teacher's Story

Okay so there's this teacher that kind of affected my life, her name was Mrs. Bruce. She was a very nice and very kind teacher. She would always tell us to be creative and when we felt like we wanted to quit on a project, she wouldn't let us. This is where I learned to have perseverance.

Five Senses Of Christmas

  • The smells of Christmas- The smell is cookies baking and chimney fire smoke.
  • The sights of Christmas- The sights of Christmas are lights brightening up the town during the night.
  • The sounds of Christmas- The sounds of Christmas is the cold wind blowing and Christmas Carols being played.
  • The touches of Christmas- The touches of Christmas are unwrapping presents.

Story Spinner

It was a dark night in my childhood neighborhood, me and all my friends were playing football barefooted in the neighbors yard. We never really knew who he/or she was, we kinda thought nobody lived there because they never really came out. Some of my other friends showed up on their bicycles and we all started playing.
About thirty minutes into the game one of my friends kicked the ball and it hit one of the windows on the creepy house. We stood in silence for a while and finally I decided to go get the ball, but it was too dark to see so I went in my house to get a flashlight.
As I was looking for the ball I heard footsteps coming from the house so I hurried up, grabbed the ball, and ran back to my friends. They were all confused about why I was scared. I told them about what had all happened. I turned around only to see an old, grumpy, and scariest looking man I have ever seen!!!! As the old man approached my friends and me he was yelling and saying things, it all sounded like gibberish to me though. I yelled to everybody run and we all scampered and ran home. END OF STORY

Letter to me

Dear Roy, you used to have some nice things hidden in the club department of your truck and you always hide your wallet in your underwear drawer. lol Your about 5'11", and weigh about 190lbs. The thing you want most importantly in life is happiness and just to be able to live life to the fullest, you've graduated college and experienced everything fun and even everything bad. You are a successful radiologist, You have reached your main pursuit. You have greatly expanded your knowledge educationally and culturally. You have enjoyed your life by going to new places such as Hawaii, Brazil, Canada, and more! I know it has been hard at times, you have had your heart broken, had some financial problems, and things kind of didn't go your way, but you made it by keeping your head up and keeping the right attitude day after day,now you have a nice house, nice vehicles, a super hot wife that is actually loyal and responsible, and now your pursuit of happiness is completed!!!!:)

Story

Once upon a time there was this really beautiful girl named Jessica that all the guys adored and fought for, but nobody had earned her heart. There was only one lone man in the village who really didn't pay too much attention to this girl, his name was Jack. As the other men were fighting and dying over this woman, Jack was either working or just taking care of himself and worrying about his own business. As time progressed this elegant woman had an eye on Jack and wondered to her self why he didn't fight and even take a glance at her. One day Jack was working on his garden and Jessica walked by real slowly, now slower, until she finally stopped and asked what was wrong with him. Jack replied with a simple answer, "nothing". Jessica was starting to become frustrated with Jack because she did not know why he wouldn't even hardly talk to her. As time progressed, no men were left in the village but Jack, the rest of them all had died fighting for her. Jack had already found a wife of his own and was happy, and Jessica lived a downright depressing life wanting him.

HOMECOMING

Homecoming is like the crunkest time of the year! You got all the people showing their BOBCAT SPIRIT, we play at our home field, and when you look in the stands there is like 1000 fans for a school that only has 300 people. I can't get much better than that!!!

Swine Flu

The swine flu is generally a transfer of bacteria from pigs to humans. This sickness has been a rising topic these days in the U.S. Some of the symptoms for pigs are fever, lethargy, sneezing , coughing, difficulty breathing, and decreased appetite. The symptoms for humans are fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headaches, chills, and fatigue. Most humans are dying from this illness if not taken to a hospital for treatment. So I suggest to wash your hands regularly and just try to be as careful as you can from letting any type of bacteria close to your face.

Poem

Roy
I'm smart, strong, chill, sexy, entertaining
I like football, food, games
Four people i could not live without are my mom, my bro , my sister , my girl
Two things that really bother me ar people who talk about others and mesquitos
I have seen Halloween 2 , The Hangover, and Obsessed
Things I fear are spiders and crazy girls
What I like about school the most is seeing everybody, easy classes, football season, and Lunch
I have visited Dallas, Texas , Mexico, and Winter Park ,Colorado
I would like to visit Los Angeles , California, New York City, NY, Orlando, Florida , Cancun, Mexico, and Minnesota.
I hope to become an x-ray tech, have a nice house, have a family, and be happy with what I have
